Joe's Spicy Tomato Sauce

This is a great and simple recipe for making a nice tomato sauce right at home. It's excellent for use on a pizza crust, as a dip for fried mozzarella sticks, and especially good for a base in a pasta sauce!

Store bought tomato sauces are boring. They also tend to be packed with preservatives, salt, and generally gross stuff. You can whip this up in just a few minutes, spill a little bit on your apron, and everyone will think you slaved over it just for them. Success!

The Recipe

The recipe is super simple, and only requires a few ingredients and makes about 20oz. of sauce. Here's all you need:

5 Medium tomatoes (I like the ones on the vine because they look cool, and you can tell how fresh they are based upon the condition of the vine they are attached to... but mostly because they look cool.)

5 Tbsps of Joe's Phenomenal Spicy Lemon Vinaigrette

1 Tsp of black pepper

1 Tbsp of minced garlic

1 Tsp Himalayan Salt

1 Small can of tomato paste

Quarter the tomatoes and toss them in the blender. Then add the rest of the ingredients saving the salt for last. I would start with leaving the salt out, and slowly adding it in at the end until you reach the desired flavor. Remember, it's there to enhance the flavor, not to make the sauce taste like salt, and everyone has different tolerances to salt.

I actually use this as a sauce for when I make cauliflower crust pizzas, and it's always a hit. It has so many more uses though, including dips, meat sauce bases, and it's especially good for tomato soups! If you wanna get really crazy, try making a Bloody Mary with it or 3.
